Gaudi originally built this fantastic place to be the centerpiece of a planned community for Barcelona's upper class. It has an unbelievable fairy tale-like aura about it with fabulous views from high above the city. It's all intricate ceramic tile mosaic work embedded in concrete. The mosaics adorn everything .. the steps, columns, spires, ceilings and benches, and it all just flows together as one. Speaking of benches, the one here is the coolest we've ever seen, by far. The Maritime Museum was definitely worthwhile as well. The porthole of this old wooden submarine has a dimly lit figure of an "Old Salt" staring back at you from the inside. Pamela jumped high enough to have won the NBA slam dunk contest when she saw it.
We are a retired flight attendant and fighter pilot, married for the better part of 35 years. We enjoy our home in the Florida Keys, fishing, diving, sunsets and "dock talk."
